You got a little upset and you fought with weekend warrior You got a little excited You got a little lovesick and you fought with a weekend warrior A ghost in your house for weeks and you want it You hold on A whiff of something sweet and you want it So you hold on you hold on You sulk and you creep False in false out sneaks That will leave you alone You said the first kiss at twelve left you haunted And you hold on you hold on You wait For something  or someone To give you a moan You got a little upset and you fought with weekend warrior You got a little excited You got a little lovesick and you fought with a weekend warrior A flock of busted seams left you grounded So you mope on you mope on You grouse and you scream Broke in Broke down dreams that will leave you alone You said the fresh kill of the week Left you wanting So you go on you go on You seek some act of faith to throw you a bone You got a little upset and you fought with weekend warrior You pulse is a thief and error prone Two knobby knees and chalky bones Don't you ever feel alone You're Beauvouir, Simone You got a little upset and you fought with weekend warrior

Cold Hands 04:37
We're on our thrones Faceless misanthropes We're on our thrones Holding megaphones Saint Philistine is our man Trade dilettantes In place of contact Saint Philistine is our man Just a sea of cold hands I found control In echo time The mirror minds The soft insides We talk of love But kill on sight My echo sign It grows and feed our hands In our weaker times Saint Philistine is our man Trade dilettantes In place of contact Saint Philistine is our man He's a sea of cold hands

John I am lost I want to see grace The enemy's right at the gates Suspicions and doubt will arise You said, and I Hoped I'd survive in this case John I have faith In the feeling of faith It's just symptoms of truth I can't shake A catastrophe A plague of me Manning the barricades They sold me Follow the sign of a man Who saw a man Said follow this man And I tried to see the man You said watch, in time They'll all pay the price Watch, in time We'll make them pay the price Mr. Birch I was caught Between visions and loss Couldn't seem to tell Which was tops Then I survived on mistakes Under cover of grays And as you said I'm too late to be save Mr. Birch let's be frank It's a carnival state It's not your glory you feel ache Not a cause of alarm Or a call to arms It's just the sound of you swallowed by fate Follow the sign of a man Who saw a man Said follow the man But I just saw a man Porcelain figures Filling holes already paved They hope a bigger figure Will lift the lie a better way Sand along a river Pushing against the wave I saw the light I feel alright

Another Wave 04:24
You got a lot of nerve to treat me like your corpse Like it's the only course How about the man and the fire And those argonauts Those futile fights they fought? Live by the sword And see who the hell has won You got a lot of nerve to Demand this price Which I guess is my life Or I guess is their life I'll ride another wave Another wave You say wait, I'm still alive But in the meantime I'll step aside You ask for sacrifice For a little white light Just your life For a little white light You want this world A different place And if it's not You'll blame me for this waste You want me in second place Where it's safe Hoping I'll wait Wishing I'll wait

I'm the fool who planned To hold the guy made of sand He was shelled Hulled and bored Cellar doors he kept closed Across a million meals In our court of appeals Left it hollow inside Better than amplified The special case of sunken safes And one is all you have The lump sum of straw and mud And one is all you have Private estates A coward's taste One is all you have The special case of sunken safes One is all you have Hold on To high life Hold out For high times Rank and file is a man Work and war Blood and sand Coloured peaks Days and weeks Rank and file is a man The special case Of sunken safes Two is blood and sand Work and war is all we are One is all you have Private estates A coward's stakes Two is blood and sand Rank and file is a man And one is all you have

about

Brooklyn's FACULTIES may have created a new form of distinguished, underground pop. These five melancholy, electronic ballads were crafted by Rob Viola (production) and Vinny Lopez (vocals), and are steeped in the alienation and mechanized rumble of New York City's hum.

Rob and Vinny met at a karaoke birthday party after Vinny sang Nilsson’s “Everybody’s Talking” and even did the yodeling part. They met up later at Vinny’s apartment, which was outfitted as a pretty serious recording studio, even though Vinny had never been in a band. Sharing their influences (including Burial, Todd Rundgren, LCD Soundsystem) they hit the ground running, quickly completing their debut release.

If there is such a thing as an "existentialist" sound, the first two FACULTIES tracks "Weekend Warrior" and "Cold Hands" might be this music. Pointedly stark lyrics are underlaid by a slightly faded carpet of sounds, punctured and accelerated by subtle elements of percussion. These tracks live up to the promise of their titles: whirling through time and existence, torn between lust for living and world-weariness. Track three ("The Paranoid Style") expands on the latter and sounds like a result of prolonged solitude, while the rocking beginning of "Another Wave“ emphasizes the former, catapulting Vinny and Rob into a melody that sparkles with life. The EP closes with "Blood and Sand“, a lounge-like ballad, rounding off this hard-to-pigeonhole release in a dignified manner.

The aim of Oldenburg-based label "Samplefreunde“ is to find artists developing different styles of Electronica and Independent far from the mainstream. With FACULTIES they tracked down a well-qualified duo: while Rob played in bands in Montreal, Philadelphia and New York as a drummer, Vinny's talent for making music was overshadowed by his aptitude in film-making. He probably just forgot to join a band until now. Rob also works redesigning roadways for pedestrians in NYC, keeping him on the streets in every corner of the city.
